Moore and Smalley Palace Shield Premier Division
Fine knocks from James Whitehead and Tom Howarth inspired Longridge to a five-wicket success in chasing down a challenging target.
Great Eccleston’s score of 231-7 was largely built around a century from Mohammed Nadeem after they had batted first.
Adam Green (43) and James Thistlethwaite (17) got them off to a solid start before both were dismissed, followed quickly by Phil Harvey (0).
Nadeem took centre stage though, hitting half-a-dozen boundaries and five sixes in an undefeated 107 which came from only 92 deliveries.
Will Thistlethwaite (16) and Ashfaque Patel (23) offered support before the close with Ian Simpson (2-53), Rory McDowell (2-46) and Alex Mason (2-58) the main wicket takers.
In reply, Longridge began solidly with their opening pair of Whitehead hitting 53 and Joshua McDowell (29).
Howarth’s 70, made at almost a run a ball, took Longridge closer to the finishing line with Luke Platt (17) and James Fairclough (28 not out) providing further impetus as they reached their target with 10 deliveries still to spare.
