GARSTANG'S run of coming second continues, this time at home to Whittingham and Goosnargh on Saturday.
Openers Pankaj Tripathi and Mark Winstanley produced a first wicket partnership of 82 from 20 overs before Winstanley was out for 27, seven runs on Tripathi was out for 58, then due to some tight bowling by the opposition from the next ten overs only ten runs were scored.
Gary Owen (on his return to the first team) began to open his shoulders to end the innings on 51no with his third six in his innings, he was well supported by Allan Cook (10), John Cross (13) and Gary Fawcett (6no) to end up with 169 for 4 from their allotted overs.
The opposition in their reply were to produce useful partnerships throughout their innings, with main contributions from M.Modhi (47), MA Lunat (29) and AK Mall 37no.
Garstang were to drop several chances in the field allowing Whittingham to ease past their total with 19 balls remaining, this now means with other results in the division going against them Garstang find themselves in bottom position, with eight games of the season left to play.
