A GOOSNARGH woman has won a national performance award from the Veteran Horse Society.
Sarah Bibby, of Langley Lane, showed her 22-year-old horse, Sunnyroc Bluebell, at a number of qualifying events across the country last year to win the accolade.
The 19-year-old, who is a nursery nurse at the Rural Wyre Children's Centre on Kepple Lane, Garstang, is a member of Garstang and District Horse and Pony Club and Myerscough College Riding Club.
She took up the hobby at the age of 10, when she joined Chipping Pony Club, and has been riding ever since.
The family have owned Sunnyroc Bluebell, who is fondly known as Megan, for the past eight years, and when she became too old to be showed at regular events, they decided to show her in the veteran classes instead.
In 2006 Megan came fifth, and in 2005 she came third.
Sarah's mother Joan said: "She is still going strong at the age of 22. She's very willing and able so we didn't see a reason to stop showing her.
"The judges give so much for turnout and so much for performance and then they collect all the points together - this year Megan came first so she's done much better than last year. Sarah's very pleased."
