IT is now only three weeks to the start of the cricket season and the 2009 fixtures for the Moore and Smalley Palace Shield have been released.
The opening day on April 18 sees Whittingham and Goosnargh facing the daunting prospect of a trip to face champions Great Eccleston, whilst runners-up Vernon Carus travel to Fulwood and Broughton.
Longridge open their Premier League account with an away fixture at Norcross, who return to the top flight after a two year absence, and then on April 25 Longridge play their first senior home game of the season against Thornton Cleveleys.
In Division One on the opening day, Longridge 2nd host Eccleston and Fulwood and Broughton 2nd are at Vernon Carus 2nd.
In Division Three Grimsargh begin with a home fixture against Wrea Green 2nd and Whittingham and Goosnargh 2nd host Blackpool.
Longridge 3rds take on near neighbours Fulwood and Broughton 3rd on April 18 in Division Four, while Ribchester travel to Garstang 3rd in the same division.
Longridge's new fourth team open a new chapter in the club's history when they travel to Blackpool fourth in Division Six.
In the Sunday League's first division Longridge begin with a home game against Hoghton, while Fulwood and Broughton take on Leyland, while in division two Whittingham and Goosnargh host Walton-le-Dale on April 19.
In the opening draw for the 20/20 East Section Whittingham and Goosnargh have been drawn at home to Longridge.
The 2009 season sees 80 teams playing on Saturdays in the Palace Shield's seven senior divisions with two Sunday divisions as well as the 20/20 cup played in midweek in the middle of the season.
The three cup competitions have been revamped to give a more even split of numbers.
