A LONGRIDGE woman has been training in preparation for the London Marathon.
Jennie Lock is running the 26.2 miles to raise money for the Cardiac Risk in the Young charity (CRY), in the memory of Phillip Jefferies, who died suddenly last year.
Jennie, a member of the Kingfisher Gym and the Preston Harriers, has been on a strict training regime since January, and has competed in various races including the Great North Run.
But his will be the first time she is attempting a marathon. Jennie, of Hacking Drive, said: ''I believe CRY to be such a worthwhile charity, which was set-up to raise awareness of sudden cardiac death in young people. Raising much needed funds to set-up mobile screening clinics, provide bereavement support, increase research and much more, is absolutely essential for CRY to prevent these tragedies.''
Jennie is hoping to raise at least £500 for CRY and has already received support from Longridge CE Primary school, who are holding a non-uniform day on Wednesday 2nd April in support of her fundraising. Jennie will be spending the day there helping in the PE lessons.
To sponsor Jennie you can pick up a form from Kingfisher Gym, or through visiting her fundraising website at http://www.justgiving.com/jennielock
