LONGRIDGE Town FC have had fantastic success in the annual Ribble Valley Sports Awards - winning three top honours.
The club has male teams from the age of seven through to adult playing in leagues, with a mixed section of four, five and six year olds training every week. The girls/ladies are from the age of 10.
After putting in 14 years with the club and providing a pitch for the junior section to play on, Mark Clegg could not attend the awards even though he had been nominated.
Mark was awarded Lifetime Achiever award for his dedication to the club. He has seen the club grow from having one junior team to the current eight teams. His children, Richard and Jack, have followed in his footsteps with them playing for the adult first team and Sami and Lucy running the girls and ladies teams.
Paul Gray was awarded Coach of the Year for his voluntary role in the club. Paul is a willing coach helping out with training from the under six age group up to the under nine, the girls/ladies sessions and helps with adult training. He also helps out with training sessions at Longridge High School. Paul nearly didn't make the award ceremony and was very surprised to receive the honour.
The final award won by the club was for Community Club of the Year. The committee have thanked all managers, players, committee members and all the people working tirelessly behind the scenes to make it the successful club that it is.
Thanks also go out to all sponsors who donate money for new kits and sponsor games.
Anyone who wishes to get involved with the club, be it sponsorship or more hands on with coaching, can contact any committee member or manager who will put you in touch with the right section.
