THERE will be more summer football in the countryside around Longridge and the Ribble Valley this year as the Catforth and District Summer Football League spread its wings still further afield.
Grimsargh will see summer action for the first time in years with a side playing in the third division at Grimsargh Rec.
The league will break new ground again after extending its boundaries in 2008 to enlist Ribchester Rovers. This year a team from Hoghton joins its ranks.
Goosnargh will have a team in all three divisions.
In other changes, last year's first division champions Chipping are now called AFC Lostock and will play home games at Gorst Farm, Elswick. New additions Vernons and Dunsop Raiders will play at Factory Lane, Penwortham, and Penwortham Holme respectively, with Stable Bar of Kirkham replacing Black Horse.
Blackpool side Annfield, who go straight into the second division, will play home games at Newton Village Hall.
The pitch at Woodacre Hall, Scorton, will host two teams new to league, Deepdale Dynamos and Spartak Fulwood. The ground has previously been used in the summer by the Kenlis team.
Garstang will also be represented in the second division by Brockholes Arms and by Church Inn in the third.
Stalmine-based Wyre Villa will have teams in the first and third divisions, with Bilsborrow also in the third.
Fixtures will start with a third division programme on April 30, with the top two divisions delayed a week because bad weather has lengthened the winter season.
Barron Cup, first round (June 4): Annfield v Chipping, Goosnargh v AFC Lostock, Hoghton v Fleece, Catforth v Ribchester, Dunsop Raiders v Wyre Villa, Brockholes v Goosnargh Res, Vernons v Spartak Fulwood, Preston City v Treales.
Hargreaves Cup, preliminary round (July 14): Goosnargh 3rds v Church Inn, Bilsborrow v Chipping Res. First round (July 21): Wyre Villa Res v Bilsborrow or Chipping Res, Stable Bar v Deepdale Dynamos, Grimsargh v Preston Acute Hospital, Fulwood Park Rangers v Goosnargh 3rds or Church Inn.
