The Great British Food Festival had to move indoors due to the Great British weather.

But hundreds still enjoyed the annual three-day gathering of foodie types at Stonyhurst College in the Ribble Valley.

Health and safety issues meant car parks had to be closed on Friday because of conditions underfoot.

And many of the events which were scheduled to be held in marquees in the spectacular grounds had to be switched to inside the college.

But a spokesman for the festival said: “While it was disappointing not to be on the lawns outside, most of the things we had planned still went ahead.

“The college has a huge hall and plenty of room to accommodate everything. The only things we couldn’t move inside were hot foods and they set up on the hard-standing outside.

“All the traders were informed in advance that the attendance might not be as large as usual because of the problems with parking.”

The Stonyhurst event was the first of eight Great British Food Festivals in 2016.
