The first town-wide loyalty shopping scheme planned by Longridge Business Group and publicised in June is launched this week.

After a short delay to its planned launch date, the innovative Longridge Does Shopping scheme has seen its first member station now up and running at The Shoe Gallery on Berry Lane.

Designed to encourage and reward customers to spend locally, the scheme has taken off thanks to funding from Longridge Town and Ribble Valley borough councils plus the business group which will now administer it. Each time a £5 purchase is made, the customer’s loyalty card will be stamped and when the card is complete it will be entered into a monthly draw to win £50 of shopping vouchers.

Business group chair Carole Hart said: “I am delighted that customers in Longridge will be able to have their loyalty to the town rewarded. We all know that every local purchasing decision helps businesses thrive, supports jobs and keeps Longridge the vibrant centre we want it to be.”

As The News went to press, the Longridge Does Shopping scheme’s second Member Station, Desire Handbags on Berry Lane, was also up and running.

Together with The Shoe Gallery and others due to sign up soon, staff will be on hand to distribute cards and registration forms.

The Business Group expects the first prize draw to take place in October.

Businesses displaying the scheme logo will be participating and customers can have their cards stamped each time a qualifying purchase is made.

Vouchers can be redeemed against a wide range of goods from hardware to toys, insurance to wedding dresses or from restaurant meals to clothing and shoes.

Group chair Carole Hart said: “The beauty of the scheme is that customers are not restricted to any one particular business for either collecting their stamps or spending the winning vouchers. I am grateful to the town and borough councils for the support and encouragement they have shown.”

When the LBG’s revised website – www.longridgeonline.com – is up and running, customers can register either online or at Business Group member stations, where cards can be collected and completed ones deposited.
