Sun shines on crowds at the Longridge Field Day parade

The crowds, the sunshine and a packed parade combined to make Longridge Field Day a big success.

Families, schools, churches, organisations and clubs rallied round to create colourful floats and walking tableaux for the event at the weekend.

Hundreds of people turned out to cheer on the parade, led through bunting-filled streets by Longridge Band and the many classic and vintage cars plus Gold Wing bikes.

Brigade, jazz and pipe bands kept everyone in step and on to the Recreation Ground and field events.

Displays included Longridge Gym Club, Janet Sutcliffe School of Dance, Brian’s owls and the fancy dress parade – with the main starting point being the crowning of Field Day Queen Elisha Fleet by retiring queen Melody Golder.

President Bill Houghton thanked the Longridge community for turning out and supporting the event.

He added: “This is what is important and makes us all feel proud to live in Longridge.”
