Fire up those laptops – online applications for Lancashire school places went live on September 2.
Last year 85 per cent of parents applied online for primary school places, as did 65 per cent of those applying for a secondary place.
The form can be found at www.lancashire.gov.uk and search ‘school admissions’.
County Coun Matthew Tomlinson cabinet member for children, young people and schools, said: “More and more parents are using the online option as a quick and easy way to apply for school places.
“What is important is applying on time. Each year there are late applications and they cannot be considered at the same time as those which come in on time, so I’m urging parents not to leave it till the last minute.
“Don’t forget, having a child at a school does not automatically mean his or her siblings will be allocated a place – you must still apply.”
You can also call 01524 581148 (north) or 01772 532190 (south) for more information.
The closing dates are October 31, 2013 for secondary schools and January 15, 2014 for primary.
Children start primary in the September after their fourth birthday.
