Staff from a popular Indian restaurant in Clitheroe will play some of its customers at cricket to raise funds for charity.

The excitement of this year’s World Twenty20 in India was the catalyst for staff at Dil Raj Indian restaurant on Parson Lane to organise the game against some of their regular customers.

Dil Raj owner Ali Romjanali said that during the World T20 both customers and staff often discussed the games and the idea of arranging a match against each other developed.

The six-a-side match will take place on Bank Holiday Monday at Ribblesdale Wanderers to raise money for Ribble Valley Mayor Coun. Joyce Holgate’s charities which include the Ribble Valley Heart Fund.

The staff at Dil Raj and everyone involved would like to thank Ribblesdale Wanderers Cricket and Bowling Club for staging the game and its chairman Mr Mark Graham for his assistance.

Peter Fletcher, Ribble Valley Borough Council, has also provided help and any donations to the cause can be donated via Dil Raj.
