Residents set to vote for new county council

Lancashire residents go to the polls on Thursday, May 4, voting for 84 seats on the county council.

Also, for Preston voters, there is a by-election for the Preston Rural East ward, following the death of former Preston Conservative councillor, Tom Davies who passed away last year.

The Preston Rural East Ward covers Grimsargh, Broughton and Haighton, and four candidates will be contesting the seat.

Kieran Paul Aspden, of Avonbridge, Fulwood is fighting for UKIP; David Callaghan, of 55 Forest Grove, Barton the Liberal Democrats; Joshua Mascord, of

Barronfield, Ambrose Hall Lane, Woodplumpton Road, Woodplumpton the Labour Party and Ron Woollam, of Oban House, 204 Preston Road, Grimsargh will be seeking to retain the seat for the Conservative Party.

For the county council election, in the Longridge with Bowland ward, David Thornton Smith, of The Farthings, Cumeragh Lane, Whittingham will be fighting to retain his Conservative seat.

Labour’s candidate is Bryan Dalgleish-Warburton, of 4 Dunderdale Street, Longridge and Simon Michael O’Rourke, of 4 Black Lane Croft, Clitheroe is the Liberal Democrats’.

In Preston Rural ward, George Albert Wilkins, of Holme Farm, 240 Whittingham Lane, Goosnargh will be fighting to retain his Conservative seat.

David John Callaghan, of 55 Forest Grove, Barton will be standing for the Liberal Democrats; Anne Fielding, of 65 Clarendon Road, Lytham St Annes for the Green Party; Joshua Mascord, of Barronfield, Ambrose Hall Lane, Woodplumpton Road, Woodplumpton, Preston for Labour and Simon Philip Platt, of11 Fulshaw Road, Ashton, Preston for the UK Independence Party.

In Ribble Valley South West ward, Oliver Bell, of Hollin Hall Farm, Whalley Old Road, Billington is standing for the Liberal Democrats; Charles Berkeley Cathcart, of 3 Moorfield Avenue, Ramsgreave, Blackburn for Labour; Anne Elizabeth Peplow, of Barn Owl Cottage, of 12 Whitecroft Lane, Mellor for the Green Party and Alan Schofield, of Clayton Hey Farm House, Ribchester Road, for the Conservatives.
