The number of people in Longridge forced to use foodbanks has reached record levels, the agency behind the charity has revealed.

From the Longridge and Ribble Valley centres, some 1,300 three-day emergency food supplies have been provided, a seven per cent rise in adult numbers.

But Rev David Anderson, leader at Longridge’s Friday centre, where the area’s foodbank operates from, says it is maintaining a steady level of clients, with volunteers serving the local community and surrounding villages well.

He said: “We have a good band of volunteers who work across our local churches but can always include more on the list when we need help.

“Many clients make use of the food bank just a few times to help them get back on their feet.

“Coming to a foodbank is often hard for people but we are here to give help and support.”
