The future of the ever-popular and much loved luncheon club, based at The Pendle Club in Lowergate, Clitheroe, could be in jeopardy.

The regular Wednesday over 60s lunch and social was relaunched by former town mayor Val Cooper and husband Gary in recent years, before Gary’s ill health forced them to hand over the reigns.

David and Jacqueline Wymer, who have been in charge since, are now looking to hang up their pinnies, in order to spend more time enjoying their retirement.

Jacqueline said: “We have had a lot of support with the club, but we cannot give the same level of weekly commitment now due to us wanting to take more holidays. We regularly host more than 40 people and that takes a lot of planning, budgeting and preparation.

“It works well with the two of us hosting as one can have look after the kitchen and one can be front of house.”

Anyone interested in helping at the club, either as organisers or officers, is welcome to call in for a chat with David and Jacqueline on any Wednesday, or can ring 01200 423219.

l New attendees are always welcomed with open arms. Lunch is charged at £3.50 for three courses.
