New sergeant steps out on town’s beat
Sergeant Dave Simpson has taken over neighbourhood policing in Longridge
A new sergeant has taken charge of the neighbourhood policing team at Longridge.
Sgt Dave Simpson will be based at both Clitheroe and Longridge police station and will oversee the officers of the neighbourhood policing teams covering Longridge, Chipping, Ribchester and surrounding areas.
Sgt Simpson has worked for Lancashire police for more than 21 years, having previously spent seven years in the Royal Military Police.
He has spent the majority of his service in Eastern Division, including stints in Blackburn, Great Harwood and Clitheroe.
Sgt Simpson has worked predominantly as a frontline officer in uniformed response, neighbourhood policing and on the operational support unit, initially as a constable before being promoted to sergeant eight years ago.
Sgt Simpson said: “I have worked in East Lancashire for most of my career, with a short spell at Morecambe and the past year working from the Ribble Valley.
“I’m very pleased to be joining the Neighbourhood Policing team at Longridge.
“I am looking forward to supporting the work being done by PCs Pat Whittle and Manda Gibson together with PCSOs Laura Harvey and Ben Higham.
“They are a fantastic and very motivated group of people who are dedicated to making the town a safer place to live and visit.
“My priority is to continue to build on the relationship with the local community including residents and traders whilst reducing anti-social behaviour and the crime associated with that.”
Sgt Simpson can be contacted at either Longridge or Clitheroe Police Station on 01772 209583 or 01200 458721.
