A Grimsargh woman is appealing for military veterans to help improve some of Preston’s war memorials.
Donna Rowe-Green, who is involved with ex-military personnel in the Dig In Walled Garden in Ashton Park, says they are about to embark on a mission to build 15 new planters to distribute within the Preston area and are looking for help from fellow veterans to join them in making the planters, siting them and planting them up.
One veteran said: “This is our way of showing our respect to those that have paid the ultimate price, and we know there are other veterans out there who feel the same, so we are looking forward to working with them.’
Donna adds: “This is an exciting project, and I know that the veterans are keen to get started. We are a small team and any help that the ex-military community can offer would be much appreciated. It may be in terms of helping with the building of the planters, or getting involved with the planting of them. Once veterans get together they are a formidable team, so I know that they will succeed with this endeavour.”
Dig In is also interested to hear from any community with a war memorial they think would benefit from one of the planters. Any veterans interested in getting involved with this project should contact 07810128019 or firstname.lastname@example.org, as should any communities interested in a planter.
