Numbers of years certainly don’t faze one of the liveliest residents at Belmont Care home in Longridge even though she’s just celebrated her 105th bierthday!

Margaret Bamber, domestic science teacher at Longridge High School for 44 years and formerly from Goosnargh, was given a celebratory party at the care home with one of several gifts being a floral plant from Longridge mayor, Coun Chris Parkinson.

A card from the Queen and one from Pensions Minister Ian Duncan-Smith were added to her collection from family and friends, and enterainment on the day was by singer Dave Dare.

Belmont staff said “Margaret is absolutely fabulous. She was dancing all afternoon to the music, and she joins in all our activities we hold here.”

She was presented with a specially made cake, a confection she continues to enjoy every week on a Tuesday when she joins a friend for coffee in Longridge.
