Marathon efforts

Runners from the Ribble Valley who took part in the London Marathon last weekend included Ken Mantle (65) of Clitheroe and Emma Seed, a teaching assistant at Grindleton Primary School.

Ken, who is the managing director of his own packaging machinery firm in Whalley, ran the 26 miles for the charity Children with Cancer, in a time of 5 hours and 20 minutes.

Teaching assistant Emma completed the course in 5 hours and 47 minutes, raising money for the Lymphoma Association in memory of her auntie.
