A lifesaving piece of equipment has been donated to a Clitheroe primary school.

Mrs Margaret Carney donated a defibrillator to St James Primary School in Clitheroe.

Known as an AED, the machine gives an electric shock to someone when their heart has stopped. Using one of these in the minutes before an ambulance arrives can double someone’s chances of survival. The machine will be have its home in the office and is to be used in school or within the surrounding area. Several members of staff are to receive training on how to use it.

Headteacher Mrs Fiona Pattison and pupils welcomed Mrs Carney to the school to accept the generous donation.
