Three 15-year-olds who have lived for football since they were at primary school could gain scholarships to play in America - but they first have to get to Dallas next Easter!

They are all currently play for Preston North End Ladies, they all attend Longridge High School...and they all bag-packed for customers at Longridge Sainsbury’s last Saturday to raise funds to get to Dallas.

Eleanore Holden, Abi Wignall and CHarlotte Smith were thrilled to raise £327 on the day and thanked everyone for such generous support - but they would still like to find more sponsorship to get their team to Dallas.

They explained “We’re a very successful team and are one of only two in the country to be given the opportunity to play in Dallas next Easter.

“This could result in any of the girls in the team gaining a scholarship to play in the States, so we are very busy raising funds to support the trip.”

Eleanore, from Longridge, was firsted signed for Preston North End in 2007. She had played for Chipping Junior Football Club from the age of six and now plays for Lancashire as well as PNE. She also helps to coach reception children at Chipping on a Saturday morning with Stuart and Jack Fletcher, Stuart being her coach when she first started nine years ago.

Her ambition is to continue to play football, take it as far as she can go and also teach and coach children in the future.

Abi hails from Grimsargh and started playing football for the U9s at primary school. An invitation to train with Preston was taken up and she was signed from there, continuing her passionate interest in sport in general.

She says her dream is to play professionally but if that is not realised, she aims to teach sport to children and the disabled.

Charlotte is a Prestonian and joined Preston North End in 2007. She started playing football in the school holidays and progressed on from there to trials at Preston, being signed on in 2007.

She enjoys all sports and takes part in several at Longridge High, while her eventual ambition is to become a teacher. All three are looking forward to going to Dallas and hope that sponsors will come forward to help them achieve their goal. Contact to help can be made through Eleanore’s home on 01772 784073.

n The junior section of Preston North End’s Women’s team was formed in 1997, after which the women’s team grew rapidly becoming one of the strongest junior girl’s clubs in the North of England. The team is a high achieving group of committed girls, typically playing in the age range above their year.
