POLICE say they are linking last week’s armed robbery in Longridge with two others which happened within days of each other.
Det Insp Jo Edwards, of Preston CID, said: “We’re continuing to conduct enquiries into three offences which were committed between Friday, September 21 and Monday, September 24, where three men wearing balaclavas entered business premises and either stole, or attempted to steal property.”
The armed robbery at Longridge Bookmakers Betfred took place at 8.30pm on Monday, September 24, when three men wearing balaclavas, one of whom was carrying what appeared to be a spanner, entered the premises and threatened the female member of staff, jumped over the counter, and took money from the till.
It is believed the men left the scene in a black or dark blue Vauxhall Vectra, and drove off towards Preston.
In the first robbery, at 9.15pm on Friday, September 21, two men entered the Betfred shop on Leyland Road at Lostock Hall and demanded money, while a third man stood guard at the door. Then on Sunday, September 23, a man who works at Kentucky Fried Chicken at Preston Docks was punched when three men burst in at 9.10pm.
They escaped with one of the tills.
Insp Edwards said: “We would appeal for anyone with information to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
She said they were particularly keen to trace the Vectra, adding: “Our neighbourhood teams are giving reassurance to the affected premises and to other vulnerable premises.”
