Bullsnape Lane flytipper in court
The fly tipping scene in Bullsnape Lane
A MAN who flytipped in Goosnargh has been successfully prosecuted by Preston Council.
Sean Whitham of Hathaway Road, Fleetwood, pleaded guilty at Preston Magistrates after being charged with fly tipping, two counts of illegal waste carrying and giving false details to a scrap yard.
He received a 12-month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay £500 for clean up costs and investigation and legal costs.
This followed an incident of flytipping in Bullsnape Lane on June 27 when council staff were sent to deal with a large pile of building waste dumped there.
Enquiries led to the defendant being identified as being involved in the removal of building waste from a Preston address and dumping it in the lane.
It was also revealed the defendant had been using a friend’s lorry to tout for scrap metal, had failed to register as a waste carrier and had failed to supply correct details when selling metal to a local scrap yard.
Coun John Swindells said: “This prosecution can be seen as a good example of why the public should take care handing waste over to unregistered carriers. There is no guarantee the waste will be disposed of in a legal manner.
“The council takes these incidents seriously and will prosecute.”
