Popular Longridge vet Andrew Hutcheson has stood down from his practice after 37 years caring for creatures great and small.

On Monday this week he handed over the Preston Road veterinary surgery to his assistant for the past three years, Paul Thomas.

In a career which has seen huge changes in both the veterinary and farming worlds, he feels he has left a strong legacy of good traditional practice underwriting the move into social media and the internet, with client details now on apps and contact through Facebook and Twitter.

“With all such developments, handing over to a younger person is important. Paul has managed what is exciting and innovative, giving new opportunities for the benefit of pet owners,” said Andrew.

Andrew will continue as a locum for Longridge and other vet practices plus his committed involvement with the RSPCA and, he says, “take some time to do something different and spend much-needed time with my family.”
