Three Sisters Emporium, Preston

Launched in 2009 by three sisters, the firm is now run by Lisa McNaughton. The fancy dress shop is the longest established fancy dress shop in Preston, formally known as Dave John B, then Cabaret.

As an emporium, it hires out vintage and new fancy dress costumes and sells a variety of costumes and accessories. Customers can also have their costumes altered through its sewing studio which also includes made to measure curtains and blinds. The emporium, in Tulketh Brow, Ashton, also stocks occasion balloons: foil, latex and the new craze bubbles, with the sisters being qualified balloon decorators, providing an additional service. There is also an extensive range of prom dresses, formal wear and tuxedos to hire.

Dragons Den, Blackpool

Located in Coronation Street, Blackpool, Dragons Den specialises in making costumes for large groups or individuals, providing bespoke outfits. It caters for all occasions; stag and hen parties, team building events, charities, promotional custom costumes, or good old fashioned parties.

It also has a Pokemon Go section.

Fonzies, Morecambe

Fonzies, in Marine Road, has earned itself a good reputation in Morecambe.

As well as the usual fancy dress hire and sales, the family-run firm provides accessories, crazy face paints, and party balloon decorations.

Always willing to help any party go off with a bang, it also stocks fireworks.

For big events and parties, people can also hire their favourite mascots, such as Peppa Pig, Fireman Sam, the Honey Monster and Olaf.

Fonzies also provides free local delivery for orders purchased online.

Fancy Pants Party Store, Chorley

Dress like Cheryl Cole or Katniss from the Hunger Games when you visit Fancy Pants Party Store, in Harper Lane, Chorley.

The shop stocks anything party-related, such as personalised sashes and t-shirts, fancy dress, hen night accessories and novelty stag wear.

Once the outfit is sorted, the next thing to think about is decorations, with baby shower banners, balloons, table displays, wedding cake toppers and greeting cards all on display.

Fancy Pants also has a blog and website to share ideas for parties and themes.

Masquerades Fancy Dress, Midge Hall, Leyland

Hidden in the cellar of Lisa Hurley’s home in Midge Hall Lane, Midge Hall, are two rooms of good quality fancy dress costumes to hire.

From Pudsey Bear, Wonder Woman and Super Mario Brothers to gladiators, wenches and pirates, there is something for everyone.

This quirky business, which has been running for four years, also stocks occasional balloons and accessories to complete the perfect outfit.
