A student who grew up in the Ribble Valley has devoted his free time to helping a charity that gives children a great opportunity to play the nation’s favourite game of football.

Jordan Booth has conpleted two street collections and a 10k run to raise funds for Burnley FC in the Community. And to date he has raised £332.

Last year Jordan (20) a former pupil of Bowland High School who lived in Gisburn for several years, collected £140 in Nelson and this year he held another collection and also participated in the Asda Foundation Burnley 10k which raises thousands of pounds for a variety of local causes.

A modern history and politics student at Manchester University, Jordan, who completed the 10k in one hour and 38 seconds, raised £140 this year in sponsor money and a street collection.

Jordan, whose family now live in Colne, said: “Burnley FC in the Comminity does a lot of good work with young people, helping to give them many opportunities and this is something I have always wanted to support.

“I am really grateful to everyone who sponsored me and for the people who donated to the street collection.”
