Crowds gathered to get a glimpse of HM The Queen and HRH Duke of Edinburgh as they arrive in Blackburn for the Maundy Thursday service.

The Queen is visiting Blackburn Cathedral to honour 88 men and 88 women from across the county with Maundy Money for the Christian service they have given to the Church and community.

Thousands of people gathered in Blackburn city centre to see her Royal Majesty the Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh Prince Phillip come to Blackburn Cathedral for the Maundy ceremony which has been an ongoing tradition for centuries. The Queen will give medals and gifts to 88 people, 88 being her age. The crowds were being very patriotic for the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.

The Royal party arrived at Blackburn Railway Station before being driven slowly down Church Street to the Cathedral for the historic service.
