Matthew Fort, leading food writer and gastro expert of BBC 2’s Great British Menu, will be touring Booths stores tomorrow.
He will appear at Scotforth between 10am and 11.15am, Garstang between 11.45am and 1pm, and 1.30pm and 2.45pm at Fulwood.
Matthew will be conducting tastings of his Mr Trotters Great British Pork Crackling – Original and Jalapeno Chilli seasoned – and of his Mr Trotters Great British Chestnut Ale.
He said: “Mr Trotters Chestnut Ale is brewed for us by Lancaster Brewery. I first met them at a food fair and was immediately impressed by their beer range and their enthusiasm for creating beers with real flavour.
“We think there has only ever been one chestnut ale brewed regularly in Britain. And that is brewed by a Hampshire microbrewery at 5%abv, as against our own much more delicate 4%. What we have found is that by using such high quality barley and so much chestnut, it has made our beer tastes far bigger and fuller than it is – developing an alluring sweet aroma, like warm bread. You can really taste a special depth of slightly honeyed nuttiness in the brew.”
