Two groups of community-minded people are getting together this Saturday to promote the newly-launched Ribble Valley Food Bank in Longridge.

Local volunteers and food bank co-ordinator Ruth Haldane will be part of the Design Platform team’s regular artisan market at Longridge Heritage Centre. Design Platform’s Sally Gorton said “together we have arranged to have a food bank collection point at all the Design Platform markets, starting with next Saturday’s event on February 8 from 10am to 4pm.

“We have already publicised this through our Facebook page and will continue to do so to remind people to drop in and donate.

“Ruth and I will touch base before each market to exchange information on what kind of goods are most needed then.”

Items needed now include long-life fruit juices or squash, instant mash, tinned ham and pies, tinned vegetables, especially carrots or sweetcorn, nappies, baby wipes, powder and other baby care products, and baby food especially useful in pouches rather than jars.
