A Lancashire inn can boast excellent customer service as one of it selling points, following a major win at an annual pub awards.

The White Bull, in Alston, was honoured with Best Customer Experience at the Thwaites Awards for Excellence 2016, where more than 40 pubs were recognised for their hard work, commitment and success.

The pubs were vying for 11 top awards, including the coveted Pub of the Year title.

Pub Tenant, Alex Coward, said: “I’m delighted to win this award. Our customers are the lifeblood of our pub, it’s as simple as that. We have spent a lot of time building up a great relationship with our customers which is why we have a strong, regular clientele.

“One of the things that was highlighted by the judges is how we respond to customer comments – we welcome all feedback and think it’s important to listen to what customers have to say. It’s one reason why people come back time and time again, we are proud of our customer service and customer experience.”

Rick Bailey, chief executive officer at Daniel Thwaites, said he was proud to lead a business that gave entrepreneurs so much freedom and flexibility.

He said: “These awards are a celebration of the great independence of spirit alive in our pubs.

“We have many brilliant examples of ideas that are brought to life through the hard work and determination of our publicans and these have created some astonishing successes. These awards recognise those achievements.

“The judges had a really difficult job picking a winner due to the exceptionally high standard of entries and all our finalists should be really proud of what they have achieved.

“I was delighted to be able to celebrate the commitment, dedication, flair and creativity of those publicans running their own business in one of our pubs.”

Each pub was presented with its award at a ceremony held at Cottons Hotel and Spa, Knutsford. Teams now look forward to a five star trip to Ireland to celebrate later in the year.
