Crowds of friends, Longridge library members and well-wishers thronged the complex on Saturday to say goodbye to manager Audrey Taylor, who is retiring from a job she has loved doing for almost 12 years.

They toasted her and partner David Salmon’s future with Pimms and a slice of iced cake by Janet Wallbank.

“Everyone is relieved the library has not fallen under Lancashire County Council’s buildings axe, but still concerned about its future use,” said Audrey.

Librarians Sue Lomax, Lynne Stevenson and Orshie Banski, pictured with her on Saturday, continue to encourage customers to fill in the 12-week consultation questionnaire on the LCC website under ‘Have Your Say.’
