A charity “donation dome” outside a shop in Clitheroe has raised £188 for a worthy cause.

Shoppers at Banana News in Castle Street dropped in cash at the dome for Marie Curie Cancer Care and when it was emptied recently that was the grand total inside.

Mrs Anne Everett, who is chairman of the Ribble Valley branch of the charity, went along to the shop to receive a cheque from owner David Brass. Mrs Everett said: “I would like to thank everyone who made a donation as it makes a real difference to the work we do.”

The charity offers care, support and advice to terminal illness sufferers and their families.
