Plans to build a timber-framed canopy to the rear of the Green Man pub in Inglewhite have been submitted to Preston City Council.
Punch Taverns, owners of the 19th century pub on Silk Mill Lane which closed early this year, have assured planners the scheme has been designed “to respect the character of the building”.
It is in a conservation area and dates back to before 1845.
Only last year the city’s planning committee passed an application to build a new side entrance, together with a flat-roofed kitchen extension and enclosed yard.
The new plan is to build a canopy with a side-trellis screen to enhance the new yard area. Punch Taverns say the proposed work would have “minor, if any, impact” on the original fabric of the pub.
