Parish organisations in Longridge are this week celebrating their very successful annual fundraiser.
Saturday’s event – the traditional spring fair renamed the Easter Fayre being so close to the church’s festival – was on course to make over £4,000 for church funds.
Plant sales and other returns after the event were set to take the day’s total to that near-record amount.
Vicar the Rev David Anderson, announcing the result to a packed church on Sunday, congratulated and thanked the many stallholders for the hard work involved, and the organising and catering teams for the great amount of back-up work needed.
The festival theme, including Easter gardens, eggs, chocolate in cakes and sweets and daffodils with prizes, was beautifully set-off by the amazing streamers of coloured eggs-and-flowers bunting around the church, all created by members of the Church Lads and Church Girls Brigade.
The fayre was opened by the Junior Choir with a selection of lively songs and, after a forecast of rain which did not happen, everyone was able to leave in bright spring sunshine.
