Fabulous food, good company and sponsorship by 50 local businesses all helped to make a local primary school’s autumn ball go with the proverbial swing.
Held on Saturday and held at the New Drop Inn, the Alston Lane Catholic Primary School PTFA event raised £1,000 from auctioned items alone, with more to come which will help raise the total to “a huge amount”, says headteacher Mark Fitzgibbon.
The PTFA, led by Lisa Dowthwaite and Julie McDonald, has recently funded new playground toys and equipment, as well as fresh library facilities at school.
The small but dedicated PTFA team is now looking for new parents to help with future initiatives. “Everyone is welcome to get involved,” said Mr Fitzgibbon.
“The generosity of local businesses was overwhelming and a huge vote of thanks is given to them all. The children and families at school must be thanked for sending in wine and chocolates and for selling raffle tickets,” he added.
“It was great that so many attended. A fabulous night was had by all and everyone went home with a prize. We would like to say thank you to everyone who made the event a success.”
