THE jury is still out as to how two television shows featuring Longridge have affected the town.
'Michael Winner's Dining Stars' and 'Harry Hill's TV Burp' both gave some contradictory images as they panned through for the first Winner's dinner contest at Justine Forrest's Preston Road home, shown on Friday.
The mum-of-three, who won a Michael Winner star and goes on to the show's next round in three weeks, then took part in a follow-up 'spoof' interview with presenter Jonathan Ross, aired on Saturday night as part of the Harry Hill show – which made the rather delapidated Civic Hall something of a laughing stock.
The story began last October when, on his tour visiting the town for his 'Dining Stars,' and then having his contest meal with Justine and guests, Michael Winner took in the hall with Longridge mayor, Rupert Swarbrick.
As he met market traders, folk having their regular Thursday lunch, and helper Pam Cliff stirring the hot pot the cameras picked up that letters were missing from the main 'Civic Hall' sign over the entrance.
Perhaps as a topical link to Harry Hill's show the plight of the hall was featured on last Saturday night's show, and it was laughingly dubbed the 'Cavity Wall Insulation Centre'.
On his Longridge tour, Mr Winner asked several people he met if they knew Justine Forrest – and they didn't. This gave rise to the spoof 'celebrity' interview with Ross, engineered to make everyone interviewed in London know who Justine was.
She said: "I went to his studio before his show, sat in the Green Room with Johnny Depp, Tim Burton, Sade, Andrew Lloyd Webber was somewhere around, Four Poofs and a Piano greeted me singing 'You're a Star,'
"Jonathan greeted me with a kiss, I sat on the sofa – but there was no audience!"
There was one for the 'spoof' on the Harry Hill show including all Justine's family - husband Chris and children Alex, Millie and Christopher. They saw her coming on at its conclusion and singing the show out with 'Knowing Me, Knowing You'.
"It was an incredible experience," says Justine "but now I feel sorry that the hall was made fun of, and I know the sign's been taken down."
