ORGANISERS of a special annual fundraiser in memory of two local young people are asking for as many people as possible to give their support again next weekend.
The Ollie and Jade Committee is planning its yearly memorial sports day for next Sunday, May 18, when Andrew 'Ollie' Hollinghurst and Jade Cronshaw, whose lives were tragically cut short, will be remembered at the event on Longridge Recreation Ground
.
Committee member Lorraine Harrison says "We are not looking for players for these tournaments as this proves too difficult to organise on the day, and the teams have all already been organised.
Support
"What we would like to emphasise is that it would be great if as many people as possible could come and support these local teams in memory of Ollie and Jade.
"It's the fourth annual sports day we've held foir them and lots of their families and friends will be taking part," added Lorraine. "Refreshments will be provided on the field and in the British Legion club from 4pm, when there will also be a presentation."
The event kicks off at 10am on Longridge Rec with a junior football tournament, followed by a senior mens football tournament and a rounders tournament for women and children at 12 noon.
Teams competing in the junior football tournament include Longridge, Chipping, Ribchester and Whitechapel. The senior football tournament is for over-30's and includes many of Ollie's friends and workmates together with Jade's father, Damian.
The rounders tournament has teams that will include many of Jade's relatives and friends
