A Longridge High School teacher has survived a horror fall from a hotel in Dublin.
It is thought PE teacher Kerrie Ward fell an estimated 20ft from the Temple Bar Hotel in the Irish capital during a holiday with friends.

The teacher, from Wigan, spent 12 days in the city's St James's Hospital and was treated in intensive care.

It is believed she suffered a suspected fractured skull and broken arm. The Irish police say the incident was not suspicious.

Keith Ackers, chairman of the school's governors, confirmed Ms Ward, pictured right, had been involved in a serious accident.

He said: "I was shocked and horrified to hear that she had this terrible accident.

"I wish her a complete and speedy recovery. She is a very capable teacher."

And speaking on behalf of the school, headteacher Jane Green said: "We are all very sorry to hear about Miss Ward's accident.

"She is a highly valued member of staff and we wish her a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing her back at school."

A spokesman for the Irish police said the accident happened at about 4.30am on Saturday February 6.

He said: "The incident occurred at the Temple Bar Hotel.
"The Gardai investigated the incident and are now satisfied that there was nothing sinister in this young lady's fall."

A spokesman for St James's Hospital confirmed the teacher was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday, February 17.

Temple Bar is a popular tourist area on the south bank of the River Liffey in central Dublin.
