POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a head-on smash in Longridge on Saturday morning (August 16).
A black Citroen Saxo driven by a Longridge man and a grey Seat Leon driven by a Grimsargh man collided just after 7.30am on Chapel Hill.
Although both cars were extensively damaged, the drivers of the vehicles managed to escape serious injury, although they were both taken to the Royal Preston Hospital by ambulance where they received treatment.
Neither of the vehicles had passengers on board and the man from Grimsargh was released later the same day and the man from Longridge, who had to be cut free from the wreckage of his vehicle by firefighters, was released on Monday.
The Citroen Saxo had been travelling along Lower Lane towards Grimsargh and the Seat Leon towards Longridge when the accident took place close to the junction of Lower Lane and Chapel Hill. The road was closed for three hours following the accident.
Anyone with any further information about the accident is asked to contact PC Cornall of Eastern Division's traffic unit on 01254 353210
