THE official name for what has so far been referred to as the Old Station Buildings is to be finalised as The Old Station, Longridge councillors have decided.
After discussions at last week's council meeting, the new name was formally adopted as the title for the complex currently being renovated in the centre of the town, and due for completion some time in April.
Councillors also heard that the Heritage
Committee had already had a plaque made showing the original name, and this would be changed to the correct title and would go on the building when completed.
Following the meeting, they were given an update on progress with the renovation, which is being carried out by local firm Carefoot Construction.
In a statement following discussions in private, the council said "Progress is now well under way and following a few initial teething problems which had both time and cost implications, and the inevitable delay caused by the adverse weather at the end of 2009 and beginning of 2010, the project is progressing well.
"It is envisaged that the renovation will be completed by late April and a grand launch will take place later in the year after snagging and a suitable period of running in has taken place.
"Longridge Social Enterprise Company is currently looking at the internal management and is confident that agreements will be reached on both the delivery of first class technology in the new office space and professional management of the offices, the buildings in general and the cafe, once the current negotiations are finalised.
"The recruitment process for the heritage officers is also under way, with appointments expected to be made over the next few weeks."
