STAFF and pupils at Longridge High School are celebrating their recent successful Ofsted inspection which praised the school as 'good overall, with outstanding features.'
Inspectors felt the school provided 'a very safe and caring environment' where staff 'at all levels are dedicated and ambitious for the students to do well.'
Students had told inspectors they had 'great confidence in their teachers' and the inspection team said that 'students relish their classes.' They also commented on the 'strong sense of community' within the school.
Headteacher Jane Green said, ' We are very pleased, as a school community, with the report. It confirms our view that this is an excellent school.'
Mrs Green highlighted the inspectors' views of the pupils as being, 'friendly, approachable, confident and mature,' and their comments on lessons being 'stimulating' and 'buzzing.'
She continued, 'Ofsted commented on the excellent relationships between students and adults, which they felt creates an environment where young people can learn and grow in self esteem and confidence."
The school will be celebrating its 50 year milestone later this year, and Mrs Green said, 'We have great plans for the future – work is due to begin later in the year to develop first class music facilities for pupils and the local community, and we have several new courses, such as the Diploma in Environmental and Land Based Studies, starting in September.
