MOTORISTS are being reminded of the forthcoming diversions on roads around Longridge due to road closures.
Ashley Lane and Inglewhite Road will both be closed to through traffic and on Cumeragh Lane two-way traffic lights will be in operation due to United Utilities' ongoing work in the area.
Ashley Lane could be closed for up to three weeks from August
4 and Inglewhite Road for up to two weeks from August 11 with the traffic lights near to the Sandbank Estate on Cumeragh Lane due to operate for one week from August 4.
During the closures LCC is recommending an official diversion route along Inglewhite Road and Halfpenny, Cumeragh and Camforth Hall lanes for Ashley Lane traffic and via Halfpenny, Cumeragh and Whittingham lanes, the A6 and Bilsborrow Lane and Inglewhite Road for traffic affected by the Inglewhite Road closure.
A UU spokesman said that although the road closures could be in place for up to three weeks, if the work on Inglewhite Road was finished earlier than planned, both roads would be opened up sooner.
He said: "The local community will be aware of other roads to make use of, but for safety reasons UU would not advertise these as good alternatives."
And he pointed out that full closures were in place to protect the workforce and prevent non-local traffic, such as HGVs, travelling down country lanes and causing blockages.
At the very latest, the road closures will be over by the bank holiday weekend starting Saturday, August 23 - in time for Chipping Show.
