A PROPOSED road safety scheme for one of the area's most dangerous rural roads will finally be decided at a Lancashire Local meeting.
Lancashire Local Ribble Valley are to discuss the final package of safety measures designed for Preston Road after a public consultation ended in late November.
In a bid to calm traffic LCC has proposed new road markings and signing as well as extending the existing 30mph limit from Grimsargh for around 300m towards Longridge, so Alston Lane School and Our Lady and St Michael's Church are within the new limit.
It is also proposed to lower the existing 50mph limit on the remainder of the road, north of the school to Longridge, to 40mph.
Further suggestions put forward by Alston Lane School headMark Fitzgibbon for a turning lane into school and extension of the 30mph limit to include Back Lane junction and proposals laid down by Grimsargh Council to address lighting and a zebra crossing outside Alston Lane School will also be included in the plans up for discussion.
A county council spokesman said responses from the councils and school would be added to the report for the meeting. Lancashire Local Ribble Valley will discuss the report on March 17, at a venue and time to be announced.
