Joss Stone is set to appear in The Tudors as the fourth wife of Henry VIII, the BBC confirmed.
The 21-year-old singer will play Anne of Cleves in the third season of the BBC drama.

Stone will deliberately look unattractive for the role, which was announced in the US.

Anne of Cleves, the daughter of a German nobleman, was betrothed to Henry after the King was shown a portrait of her.

But when she arrived in England, Henry, played by Jonathan Rhys Meyers in BBC2's racy historical drama, was disappointed in her looks.

He referred to her as the "Flanders mare" and annulled the marriage in July 1540 after six months.

Stone, who has sold more than seven million albums worldwide, had a role in the fantasy feature film Eragon in 2006 and recently appeared on screen as the Cadbury's Flake girl.

The Tudors is produced by Showtime in the US.
