Heavy metal group Iron Maiden have asked fans to help trace a missing guitar.
The band lost the instrument, belonging to Adrian Smith, during a show in Athens on Saturday night.

They have appealed on their website for fans to help find the new Jackson guitar, which is the only one of its kind.

The white instrument contai
ns the guitarist's own signature on the headstock.

The group said: "Adrian's new Jackson guitar was stolen after the show in Athens on Saturday night.

"Can all Maiden fans please be on the lookout for the guitar. It will be extremely hard to get rid of as it's the only one in the world."

An Iron Maiden tour jacket and a hand-written letter of thanks from Smith will be sent to anyone who finds the instrument.

The band, founded in 1975, are also perplexed by the decision to nominate them for Best Live Return at the Vodafone Live Music awards.

They said: "You may have read in the last couple of days that Maiden have been nominated for the Best Live Return Award in the Vodafone Live Awards.

"However please don't go looking to cast your votes for us. As we are not quite sure where we are returning from, we have asked them to remove us from the nominations and they have done this."
