A STRONG accent on youth gave this year's parish Spring Fair in Longridge an added sparkle to the day's successful result of more than £2,500.
Young people helped on several stalls, the Youth Group took over running an expanded book stall, youngsters were keen competitors for the penalty shoot-out, hooking the duck and the 'custard and golf ball' lucky dip, while the Brigade Band entertained during the fair which was opened with lively singing by the Junior Choir.
"It was great to see so many people there," said vicar, the Rev David Anderson. "There were lots of families enjoying all the stalls and sideshows, and we were also glad to welcome visitors to what is always a happy parish event.
"The result was excellent and that is due to the hard work put in by all the organisations on their different stalls. A big thank you is due to everyone who put in such a lot of effort, and also to lots of people who gave gifts and donations for the fair."
Fair-goers were welcomed into the CE School Hall by the PTFA's colourful plant stall at the entrance, and then by the busy team dealing with the many tickets for the bumper raffle.
The always-popular Spring Fair Cafe proved a great place to relax with a choice from the varied menu - hot pot, pizza, Mexican bean salad, sandwiches, puddings, tea and coffee - and the fair concluded with the raffle results and collection of prizes.
The total amount raised - to include money added after the event - is to go towards building maintenance and the work of the church in the community
