A WONDERFUL event' was the verdict of organisers of Longridge parish's annual spring fair which raised over £2,500 for church funds.
'"It was marvellous to see so many people supporting our two churches on what we all felt was a very happy occasion," said vicar the Rev David Anderson.
"A big thank you to the many people who organised so many different and attractive stalls, and also to the busy team of cooks and barbecue helpers for providing such a delicious and varied menu for the day."
His welcome in a packed CE school hall last Saturday was followed by the opening ceremony, when the Junior Choir sang three lively songs, with more entertainment being given later by the Brigade Band.
Stalls for produce, plants, cakes, crafts, books, nearly-new goods, bric-a-brac, plus sideshows, a tombola, grand raffle and guessing games were kept very busy throughout the event.
The parish is now looking forward to its stewardship event 'Giving Sunday' on May 11 which will feature two special services and presentations, plus refreshments, in the morning and afternoon.
