Horror duo shoot new film in Longridge
THEIR award-winning short films put Longridge on the slasher movie map.
Now Mark and Tracy Smith of Optic Nerve Productions are shooting another slasher flick in their home town, using an entirely local cast.
Sweet Dreams is set in the not-too-distant future and tells the story of the mysterious Peter Manson.
It stars Craig Proudfoot, from Ashton, Gemma Cowburn, from Longridge, and Fulwood actor Brad Mayor, who contacted the filmmakers after reading about them in the local press.
And the horror flick could get its premiere at the New York Film Festival later this year after the award-winning producers were invited to take part.
Mark, 37, who works as a flexographic printer, said: "Lewis Umbrellahem, the festival director, has been in touch inviting us to send in two more new films for The New York Film Fest.
"It's great for us."
And the couple have had support from local residents and businesses in shooting the film.
The spooky former Miniprints building in nearby Knowle Green was used for filming and scenes were also shot in a conference room at Preston's Holiday Inn.
And the soundtrack has had some celebrity help too. Rocker Harvey Bainbridge, formerly of space-rock band Hawkwind and now a successful solo artist, agreed to produce a track.
The couple have also been backed by some of the biggest names in the horror movie business, including Tom Sullivan, who created special effects on the Evil Dead films, and actress Betsy Baker.
Mark added: "Things are going great at Optic Nerve Productions, with stars leaving messages in our guestbook about our work.
"As massive horror fans, things can't get any better than that."
