Put your feet up for pram race charity fun
The brilliant supporting tradition of Longridge’s Boxing Day Pram Race made it an absolute winner for the day when crowds packed the roads around this year’s host pub, the Old Oak.
The Mayor of Longridge Councillor Rose Adamson, her consort John Adamson and the 2012 Field Day Queen, Naomi Readman,
signalled the ‘off’ for an excellent turnout of 64 amazingly dressed particpants in 64 teams.
Collectors with their tins were raising funds for this year’s charity, Longridge First Responders, as well as for the 2013 Field Day, and the final total will be published when all monies are in. Prior to the start of the race, all teams were judged for the best fancy dress, which was won by The Camelot Crusaders with The Vikings coming second. Both teams kindly donated their prize money back to the Pram Race charities.
The first team back was Longridge Young Farmers consisting of David Dixon, Steven Crane, Nathan Forshaw, Steven Ward and Andrew Ward, who completed the course in 28 minutes, and donated their £50 prize money to the Motor Neurone Disease Society.
The Field Day Committee would like to thank the Old Oak for hosting the event, also the other licensed premises that took part “for without their participation the Pram Race could not be run,” committeemembers stressed.
