Police message to travelling criminals
Ribble Valley community Safety Partnership has launched a crackdown on thieves targeting the area
Farmwatch allows police to share information with farmers and rural businesses, alerting farmers to suspicious behaviour or recent crimes in their area via email or telephone, so they can take precaution.
Farmers are also encouraged to inform police of any sightings of suspicious vehicles, poachers,or any other activities which are passed to other Farm Watch members.
Dozens of farmers have signed up to the Smartwater scheme, where property is marked with an invisible liquid which, when placed under ultra-violet light, reveals the rightful owner.
Anyone taken into custody is routinely screened to check whether they have come onto contact with Smartwater.
